Sensata Technologies, Inc. Electrical Design Engineer in Attleboro, Massachusetts

Our Performance Sensing Global Business Unit is currently seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to work in our Attleboro, MA US Headquarters office. The electrical engineering team supports sensor product development, pursuit of new business opportunities and product lifecycle management in the North America, Japan, and Korea regions for the Automotive and Heavy Vehicle Off-Road (HVOR) business units. These sensors are designed for automotive & HVOR applications and must meet customer requirements for performance, quality, and cost.

An Electrical Design Engineer (EDE) at Sensata is responsible for electrical module design, product development/validation, and thorough documentation according to automotive development process (APQP) and industry safety standards (ISO26262 & OBDII). Tasks include electrical design, electrical validation testing to ensure accuracy performance throughout product life while exposed in automotive and/or industrial harsh environment such as extreme temperatures, EMC/EMI and other electrical/mechanical/chemical stresses.

Job Responsibilities:

  • BS or higher degree in Electrical Engineering or other electronics-based scientific degree

  • Minimum of five years electrical design experience

  • The ability to translate customer requirements into reliable electrical designs

  • Familiarity with common product design methodologies (DFSS, DFMEA, etc.)

  • Experience with sensor interface and signal conditioning

  • Embedded microprocessor and microcontroller design

  • Design for EMC/EMI & ESD robustness

  • Familiarity with common testing specifications (SAE, ISO, CE, UL, etc.)

  • Familiarity with PCB design process such as schematic & layout capture software, fabrication, assembly

  • Industrial and/or automotive electronic system or ASIC product development: concept--to-production lifecycle

  • Software skills: such as C/C++ , Matlab, VBA, Labview for automation and data processing

  • Hands on attitude with the ability to operate standard electrical test equipment

  • Strong project management and product development skills including

  • Estimating timelines and understanding design activity dependencies

  • Design to cost

  • A history of on-time and on-budget product validation

  • Documentation

  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills and a high level of communication skills

  • Responsibilities also include regular customer interface as well as ownership of program budget, product unit cost, delivery time, manufacturability and post-release activities

  • Strong interpersonal skills are key to attributes in Sensata's cross functional and global team environment - we work together to solve problems

  • Travel Requirements: Occasional (<10% both domestic and international) to work with suppliers, customers and manufacturing sites
