State of Massachusetts Campus Police Officer II in Pocasset, Massachusetts

Work Hours: (40 hours) 7:00am - 3:00pm, Days Off: Friday and Saturday

The Department of Mental Health's Pocasset Community Mental Health Center is seeking a dynamic individual to fill a Campus Police Officer II position. The incumbent provides overall supervision to all subordinate Campus Police officers. Insures that all Departmental mandated annual trainings are available and completed by subordinates. Provides on-the-job training to subordinates, either personally or through referral to Lay Enforcement Educational Programs, performs related duties such as conducting staff meetings, maintaining Departmental records, Manage 24/7 coverage schedule, authorize/approve all time, preparing periodic reports as requested, conducting investigations. Patrols buildings and grounds and adjacent areas under the control of the Department of Mental Health. Enforces Massachusetts General Laws, Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Laws, Department of Mental Health Regulations and Policies. Performs related law enforcement duties to insure the safety and security of the institution and the population that the institution serves.

Cape & Islands Site / Pocasset Mental Health Center provides comprehensive services to adults and children*. *Programs include a 16-bed acute in-patient unit, Case Management, Day Treatment Program, Community Based Flexible Support. Minimum Entrance Requirements:

Applicants must have at least (A) two years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience in a governmental police force or in law enforcement work, or (B) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.


I. An Associate's degree with a major in police science, law enforcement or criminal justice may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required experience.**

II. A Bachelor's degree or higher, with a major in criminal justice, police science or law enforcement may be substituted for the required experience.**

*Education toward such a degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.

Special Requirements: Possession of a current and valid Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Operator's License.

Appointee must be eligible for appointment as a special police officer under Chapter 22C, Section 60 (DPH) and Section 59 (DMH & DMR) of the Massachusetts General Laws.
