Job Description Summary:
Individual plans and performs a variety of technical assignments associated with the installation and replacement of YG facilities. Individual acts as YG representative working directly with the requester (builder/developers, and customers) from the point at which a contract is signed requesting service from YG until first gas bill is rendered. Duties include but are not limited to: plan, design and lay out additions and improvements to the distribution system; prepare cost estimates, gather field data, prepare work requests, material orders and requisitions, submit necessary permit applications for all planned construction and maintenance work; and prepares the as-build drawings for all additions and improvements made to the system.
A minimum of two years technical training plus two years related experience, or a high school degree plus six years related experience is required. Individual must have the ability to successfully complete the TMP (Time Merit Progression) training. Individual must have the ability to plan and perform a variety of technical assignments associated with the installation and replacement of Yankee Gas (YG) facilities; working knowledge of engineering construction and maintenance policies, procedures and practices as related to the natural gas industry; thorough knowledge of applicable State and Federal government codes and regulations affecting a gas distribution system; and possess ability to operate a computer and computer applications. Selected applicant will consistently be exposed to gaseous atmospheres, high noise levels and traffic, construction site hazard and hazard on customers' properties. Federal Operator Qualifications rules apply.

This position is categorized as safety-sensitive for the purpose of drug testing. Successful applicants shall be subject to a pre-assignment drug test if the individual is currently in a non-safety sensitive position. As an employee in this position the individual shall be subject to random drug testing. A positive drug test will result in disciplinary action.
